Education and Peace

"Establishing a lasting peace is the work of education … all politics can do is keep us out of war."

This is a quote from this stirring collection of speeches delivered by Dr. Montessori at international congresses and peace councils. These writing vividly reveal her profound concern with the question of peace. Dr. Montessori was forced to leave her home country of India because of the gascist activity of Mussolini's government. It is easy to understand why educating for peace is at the core of all of Dr. Montessori's work.
