These Artists 3-Part Reading Cards feature the artists who have made some of the most famous pieces of art in the world. These cards include self-portraits, portraits, or photographs of the artists who created the art in our Fine Art Cards series. We recommend beginning with 3-Part Art Cards and then introducing these 3-Part Artists cards (this page).
Aligned with Science of Reading principles, these cards build reading fluency through repeated, self-correcting practice — strengthening orthographic mapping and vocabulary acquisition at the word level.
Start with individual packets for American and European (choose series 1 to 4) artists (the bundle for all of these is discounted) or go for a variety pack with a sampling of artists from each of the American and European packets (12 artists total).
Add-on the matching 3-Part Art Cards for a complete fine art learning experience. Cloth pouches are an excellent way to display and organize these on your shelves, ready for students to use.
The 3-part format is designed for independent reading. Students lay out the art card, read and match the word labels to the art cards, and then use the control cards to check their own work.
- Each packet features 6 artists (self-portrait, portrait, or photo) in a 3-part format; 18 cards per packet.
- All cards are eco-laminated (food-grade) with rounded corners
- Sized for the child’s hand: Cards are approx. 3¾" x 4¼" (control), 3¾" x 3" (photo), 3¾" x 1¼" (word)
- Each packet comes in a sturdy, clear reclosable bag for storage/easy swapping out
- Lesson plan included
