This is what you want: All 5 Packets in Level 4 (challenging phonetic words) in one economical set. You've finished phonograms (Level 3) but some of your students are struggling rather than zipping through non-phonetic words. Level 4 is the solution because it still follows the rules learned and practiced in Levels 1 through 3 but adds challenge.
In this level, all text is printed in black (no more scaffold from the isolation of phonograms in red) and words contain more than one phonogram. But, each word is still predictable: they follow the rules. Extra practice with these words helps build confidence and deciphering flexibility. Move on to puzzle words and non-phonetic 3-Part Reading Cards after completing this level.
Here's what's included:
- Packet 4A eases into this format with one-syllable nouns (like shell and sheep)
- Packet 4B contains 6 different two-syllable nouns that end in er (like clover and rooster) but include one other phonogram
- 4C contains 6 different two-syllable nouns with two phonograms in each word (like chicken and hammer)
- Packet 4D takes them to the beach with 6 different compound words (like starfish and seagull) related to an ocean theme
- Packet 4E takes them to afternoon tea in the park with 6 different compound words (like sunflower and pinecone)
