Scratch & Dent Discount: Unlock your child's reading potential with our step-by-step phonics program. Level one starts with picture-supported learning. Children read the word label, match it to the picture, and use the control cards to check their own work.
Level 1 includes 5 Packets of the simplest CVC or VC phonetic words in one economical set. Words featuring the short letter vowel sounds a, e, i, o, and u are dispersed throughout these packets. Together, they make a complete introduction to reading the simplest phonetic words in English.
Here's what's included:
- Packet 1A contains six of the simplest, 3-letter CVC phonetic words in our language. There are two rhyming pairs of words for the short vowel sounds a, i, andu (like cat, hat).
- Packet 1B contains six of the simplest, 3-letter CVC phonetic words in our language. There are two rhyming pairs of words for the short vowel sounds o, a, and e (like dog, log).
- Packet 1C contains six of the simplest, 3-letter CVC phonetic words in our language. There are two rhyming pairs of words for the short vowel sounds a, e, and u (like bed, red).
- Packet 1D contains six of the simplest, 3-letter CVC phonetic words in our language. Each word contains the short vowel sound a, e, oru (like gum, bus). Unlike Packets A, B and C, this packet contains no rhyming pairs thus adding a slight challenge from earlier packets.
- Packet 1E contains six simple 2- or 3-letter CVC or VC phonetic words. Each contains the short vowel sound a, e, i, o, oru (like lid, ax). This Packet contains several words that start with the letter b or l thus adding a slight challenge from Packets A through D.
If you're looking for the pink, blue, green series, Level 1 equals the pink series (completely phonetic words).
We recommend getting one pink 3-pocket pouch to organize and display your cards. You only need one pouch because you will rotate packet contents every week or so to keep the environment alive with interest; one-pouch but ever-changing cards inside it. How fun!
