Common Core
These are the equations you need. We can easily come up with workable addition, multiplication, and subtraction equations on the fly, but division? You need to have those prepared ahead of time so you don't end up with remainders. And when we're first introducing division, we can't add in that complexity or we may confuse the heck out of the kids! With these perfect equations you won't have to rush over and snitch beads. Use these as soon as the children have some experience with the addition, multiplication and subtraction.
Use your base ten manipulatives to recreate the equation on each equation card. Layout the dividend (the first number in the equation). Then, get one tray for each divisor (one for each unit in the divisor so 3693/3 would need 3 trays). Then, share the dividend out fairly (so every tray gets the same amount) to create the quotient.
Don't wait or skip division... kids love to practice "sharing it fair"! Move on to long division next (sharing things with groups or families).
