Fabric

Our water-resistant aprons are made with 100% cotton fabrics that are coated with a non-toxic, water-based polyurethane that is CPSIA-certified BPA and Phthalate-free. This fabric also meets the human-ecological requirements of the Standard 100 by OKEO-TEX. This fabric has a soft, matte finish rather than a glossy one. It feels buttery soft.

Our cloth aprons are 100% cotton and fully lined. Use these when you want water absorption rather than water resistance. 

All of our products meet or exceed CPSIA standards.

Color Coding

Color is one of the ways a Montessori environment stays organized. When an apron's fabric matches its table or floor mat and the color of the materials in the activity, a child can see at a glance which apron belongs with which activity — no reading required, no asking an adult. That visual pairing also helps the prepared environment stay organized: as activities rotate through the shelf, color-coding keeps each apron paired with its matching workspace rather than getting mixed in with unrelated materials. It's a small design choice, but it supports the same goals as any other piece of the prepared environment — order, independence, and a child's ability to find and return materials on their own.

Design

To get our apron design just right, we enlisted the help of Montessori teacher trainers and hundreds (really) of Montessori teachers. The results are the perfect apron design. (You can read all about it in our blog post on The Perfect Apron)
