Reading Comprehension
Our reading comprehension learning materials are designed to improve our ability to understand, interpret, and analyze written text. These materials help train us to grasp main ideas, make inferences, and connect information across various contexts.
Our goal is more than just to help readers understand. We want them to read between the lines. To realize this, readers need not only a large vocabulary but also a sense of context and gist. This is why all of the sorting and vocabulary work we have done early on is foundational for reading comprehension.
Begin with our Grammar and Word Study materials. These are designed not only to introduce children to parts of speech and how words function, but also to develop critical thinking skills.
Next, introduce our 4-Part Fine Art Cards. These allow readers to use context clues to match a famous piece of art with the artwork's title and artist.
Finally, pull it all together with our Definition Cards and complete interactive Build-a-Book activities.
