One kit works for five students at the teaching table.

Dynamic, Hands-on Learning

This kit is a dynamic, hands-on learning experience that guides students through a carefully sequenced progression. We begin with the basics: simple CVC words (think cat, lid, and mug) where each sound is clearly pronounced and easily recognized. 

As students master these foundational words, they'll move onto more complex patterns, tackling words with blends (like stop, crab, and nest) and other longer, more challenging phonetic words. This is where the true power of phonics comes alive!

Self-Correcting

What makes this kit truly special is the self-correcting 3-part card system. These aren't just flashcards; they're designed to empower students to read independently. Each card presents a visual puzzle, the reader has to match the word to its corresponding photo. Then, they check their own work using the control card. This self-checking feature means that students can explore, experiment, fix errors, and learn at their own pace, building confidence with every success, and reducing the stress that can come with being corrected by a teacher.

Active, Play-Based

But reading isn't just about sitting still, it is also about active engagement! That's why we've included the movement-based charades game. With our Phonetic Activity Cards, students will jump, spin, and act out the words they're reading, combining literacy with active play. Imagine a child reading the word hop and then hopping around the room with a smile as their friends try to guess what their card says! This approach reinforces understanding, making reading a joyful and memorable experience, and engaging multiple senses. The students provide a control of error for each other because once they've acted out an action, they show the card to their peers who agree or disagree with the interpretation.

Step 1: Students choose any pink packet and independently read the CVC words, match them to their photo, and find their own mistakes with the control card. Repeat until children have mastered all packets.

Step 2: Students choose any blue packet (consonant blends) and read as in Step 1.

Step 3: Pairs of students choose any long pink packet and read to each other; peer collaboration acts as a control of error. Five packets for multiple activities.

Step 4: Students choose any red packet and play charades; they choose one card, read the word, act it out, and then show the card to their peers to see if they guessed right. Five packets for multiple games.

There are enough materials in this kit for five students to work with you at the same time. Add in a self-assessment measure by allowing students to choose the packet they work with (you might say, "Everyone choose one pink pouch that you haven't done before.").
