Imperfect Carnivores, Herbivores & Omnivores

$29.95 USD $14.95 USD

These are just like our first quality cards except there is a slight production error that made us judge it as second quality. The error may be that the colors are slightly off, the images slightly askew, there is a spot or small hair in the laminate on one or more cards, and/or a slight curve to the laminate. Often the error is only on one card and customers can't find it (but we can)! Other than that, these are perfect and complete. Our production error means big savings for you!

Carnivores, Herbivores & Omnivores

How come some animals eat only plants, while some eat only meat, and others eat both? Use the cards in this packet to help answer that question (hint, pay close attention to each animal's teeth).

This activity introduces the children to the terms carnivore, omnivore, and herbivore and shows them six animals that represent each group. We chose animals that represent the five main vertebrate classes along with invertebrates to provide zoological balance. Each photo displays the subject in its natural environment with the food it eats. These beautiful photos make finding out what different animals eat a fun lesson that can open many discussions about the diversity of species.

We've also added in sorting labels with control cards to enrich the children's understanding of the differences. Use the photos alone in 3-period vocabulary lessons and for independent sorting work with pre-readers. Then, introduce all 3-parts and the sorting labels for children who are stretching past phonetic reading.

  • 3-part format includes photos, labels, and control cards (word and label put together); 63 cards total
  • 18 animals that children can recognize and that show the diversity of zoological groups
  • Rounded corners (no pricked fingers or dog-eared cards)
  • Comes in a sturdy, clear reclosable bag for storage
  • Includes a lesson plan with information about the groups

These can be beautifully displayed in our 3-pocket cloth pouches (sold separately).

Cards are fully laminated and ready for use. Approximate card sizes are 3¾” x 4¼” (control cards), 3¾“ x 3” (photo cards), and 3¾” x 1¼” (word cards).
