Now, with matching cards, children can work with the artwork they love. At the same time, they'll be training their memory and developing their hand-eye coordination. What's not to love?

The breathtaking art in this collection includes artwork from Europe, America, and around the world. The matching format lets children lay their hands on and work with the artwork they've come to love through the Fine Art Card activities.

First, match the fine artwork directly, side by side. Then, add distance by placing one set of cards far away from the other set. Finally, flip them upside down and layout them out in a grid for classic memory matching games. This challenges the children, adds interest to inspire more repetition, and gives cause for purposeful movement.

We made these matching cards a bit larger than our traditional matching cards so that the children can engage more closely with the gorgeous details of each piece of art.

Cards are approx. 4¼” x 5½"

Our matching cards contain no written language on the cards themselves. The backs contain only a red dot or a blue dot so they can sort the cards into sets and play memory matching (with the cards upside down on the work area). But don't worry, we include a printed reference key in each packet so you can reference the name and artist for each work of art.

Add on our Two Pocket Art Pouch for a complete storage and display solution. We like to use one pouch (teal) and rotate the packets out every week or two. But, you can choose whatever color you like! Just put a note in the comments field when you place your order.

A Note to Montessorians

Our matching card packets contain the same photos as in our vocabulary and 3-part card packets. It is great to have all three sets in one classroom so that the 3-year olds (using vocabulary cards), 4-year-olds (using matching cards), and 5+ year-olds (using 3-part reading cards) can all be exploring the same topic—great for classroom community building!

A Note to Teachers

We recommend beginning with our Fine Art Display Cards. Use these larger format cards to explore the details of each piece of art and learn about the year it was made, the artist, and the art's style.

Then, move on to these Fine Art Matching cards. These allow children to work with the artwork they love in a new way.

When the children begin to write, inspire them to write about their favorite piece of art using the movable alphabet, chalkboards, or pencil/paper (whatever is appropriate for that child).

Once the children are reading non-phonetic words, introduce the 3-Part Fine Art Cards. Then, move to the 3-Part Artist Cards where they match the names of the artists with their image.

Finally, after the children succeed with the 3-Part Fine Art cards, introduce the Fine Art 4-Part Cards where they match the artwork, its name, and its artists. This is an activity that truly grows with your children!
