Master Letter-Sound Knowledge with these self-correcting Letter-Sound 3-Part Cards.
Students layout the letters/digraphs and match them to an iconic picture that features the key sound. They use the control card (letter/digraph and picture on one card) to check their own work.
Use these to introduce the key sound for each letter/digraph; with these, you can phonetically spell all words in English! These key sounds lay the foundation for understanding the phonetic half of written English.
- Work with high-frequency sounds including consonants, short vowels, and digraphs to build a strong phonics foundation.
- This multi-sensory approach helps children connect sounds with symbols, an essential skill for both reading and writing.
- Color-coded cards and pouches make it easy for children to find the materials they need and to organize the learning environment.
The 3-part cards take our language and make it concrete by assigning one sound for each letter/digraph. These are the first letter-sound connections we teach. Later, we move on to the spelling variations but we don't introduce those at this stage because we are isolating the concept of language being represented (reliably) by letters.
The following table lists the key phonemes of English as presented in this system.
